Predicting Wireless Channel Utilization at the PHY
نویسنده
چکیده
The ISM band is an extremely over utilized communications medium. Wireless LAN technology, Bluetooth, and landline wireless devices all make use of the ISM band. The support vector machine is proposed as a tool for predicting channel availability and thus using the band more efficiently. Data processing, feature extraction, and results are presented. Suggestions for future work in this area are also presented.

CUTS: Improving Channel Utilization in Both Time and Spatial Domains in WLAN
Improving channel utilization is a well-known issue in wireless networks. In traditional point-to-point wireless communication, significant efforts had been made by the existing study on enhancing the utilization of the channel access time. However, in the emerging wireless network using MU-MIMO, considering only the time domain in channel utilization is not sufficient. As multiple transmitters...
متن کاملModelling and Performance Evaluation of Physical Layer of Wireless Regional Area Networks (IEEE 802.22) over AWGN Channel
The IEEE 802.22 stands for Wireless Regional Area Network (WRAN). WRAN uses the white spaces & unused VHF & UHF TV Bands. Cognitive Radio (CR) is a key to develop such a wireless standard. It is based on Time division multiplexing and Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiple Access. WRAN is developed for rural areas where utilization can be very low. In this paper we provide a detail overview of ...
متن کاملOn Passive Characterization of Aggregated Traffic in Wireless Networks
We present a practical measurement-based characterization of the aggregated traffic on microseconds time scale in wireless networks. The model allows estimating the channel utilization for the period of time required to transmit data structures of different sizes (short control frames and a data packet of the maximum size). The presented model opens a possibility to mitigate the effect of inter...
متن کاملChannel-aware MAC performance of AMC-ARQ-based wireless systems
This paper proposes a novel framework for the cross-layer design and optimization of wireless networks combining adaptive modulation and coding (AMC) at the physical (PHY) layer with automatic repeat request and channel-aware multiuser scheduling protocols at the data link control (DLC) layer. The proposed framework is based on the use of first-order two-dimensional discrete timeMarkov chains (...
متن کاملImproving Wireless Access Control Schemes via Adaptive Power Regulation
Two challenging issues for future wireless communication systems are the support of Quality of Service (QoS) and the definition of flexible access schemes to be used in heterogeneous systems (public cellular systems, wireless local area and ad-hoc networks). This paper deals with the class of Radio Resource Control (RRC) based on power regulation, where typical PHY layers parameters (powers, in...
